What is Inhibited Propylene Glycol Based Cooling fluid?

Cooling fluid, specifically inhibited propylene glycol-based, is a type of coolant used in various industrial applications, including welding equipment. It contains propylene glycol as its primary ingredient along with inhibitors to prevent corrosion and scale formation.

Summary of its characteristics and usage:

  1. Composition: The cooling fluid is primarily composed of propylene glycol, a type of organic compound known for its excellent heat transfer properties. Additionally, it contains inhibitors that help prevent corrosion and the formation of scale within the cooling system.

  2. Cooling: When circulated through a cooling system, such as those found in welding equipment, the inhibited propylene glycol absorbs heat generated during welding processes, helping to regulate the temperature and prevent overheating.

  3. Protection: The inhibitors present in the fluid form a protective layer on the internal surfaces of the cooling system, preventing corrosion and extending its operational lifespan.

  4. Application: Inhibited propylene glycol-based cooling fluid is typically diluted with water to achieve the desired concentration before being added to the cooling system. It is commonly used in various welding applications, including cooling torches, power sources, and other equipment where heat dissipation is crucial.

In essence, inhibited propylene glycol-based cooling fluid is an effective coolant that helps maintain optimal operating temperatures in welding equipment while providing protection against corrosion and scale formation.
